Coffee with the Chief and City Manager: Thursday, May 26 at 10 a.m.

At our Community Conversation earlier this year, residents came together for a conversation with local Police and City leadership. One of the requests emerging was for more engagement opportunities. Last month foot patrol officers began patrolling downtown and we are now kicking off a series of informal chats: Coffee with the Chief and City Manager. The conversation continues. . . Drop by the Libbey Park fountain Thursday morning at 10 a.m. for complementary coffee and talk with Ojai Police Chief Jose Rivera and City Manager James Vega.

Mark your Calendars: Ojai Day is Coming October 15

Ojai Day 2022 will bring locally infused arts and entertainment, vendors, activities and fun for the whole family is coming to Libbey Park on Saturday, October 15.  Applications are now open for Ojai Valley vendors, non-profits, and educational groups wishing to participate in this annual event that captures the spirit of our community. Ojai Recreation Hosts Open House on Saturday, May 21, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Ojai Recreation Department’s Annual Open House is right around the corner! Join us for a fun-filled day on Saturday, May 21, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Sarzotti Park, 510 Park Road. The free community event will showcase many of the department’s offerings and include program demonstrations. Ojai Honors Arbor Day with Tree Planting, Blessing

The City recognized Arbor Day and our designation as a Tree City, USA, on April 29, 2022, with the planting of a California Sycamore Tree in Libbey Park. Special thanks to our partners at Ojai Trees for donating the tree and supporting this event, and to Chumash Elder Julie Tumamait-Stenslie for offering a traditional Chumash blessing. Applications Now Being Accepted for Volunteers for Commission Openings

Applications are now being accepted from City of Ojai and Ojai Valley residents for the following volunteer positions, for four-year terms:


Building Appeals Board Member (must be City residents)

Historic Preservation Commissioner

Parks and Recreation Commissioner

Planning Commissioner


The deadline to apply is Friday, May 13, 2022.
