City of Ojai COVID-19 Update for: April 1, 2021- County of Ventura to Potentially Move into the State’s Orange Tier on Wednesday, April 7, 2021

On Tuesday, March 30, 2021 the state of California announced that the County of Ventura could move into the State’s Orange Tier as early as Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 12:01 am. In the announcement, it was noted that the County has met the requirements for the first week of the two-week time frame in the State’s Orange Tier. If the County meets the requirements during the next review, on April 6, the County will be permitted to move to Orange Tier.

[Español abajo] The Ventura County Health Care Agency is offering free COVID-19 testing today (March 31, 2021) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Sarzotti Park, 510 Park Rd. Ojai CA. 93023. Testing is available to members of the public, including to those who have the slightest suspicion of having COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone with it. Appointments are not required and you don’t need to have health insurance.

The National Weather Service Issues Wind Advisory Notice, Effective Tuesday, March 30 until Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 3:00 PM

The National Weather Service has issue a wind advisory notice, effective Tuesday, March 30 until Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 3:00 PM. Gusty Santa Ana winds are expected to impact Ventura County interior and coastal valleys with northeast winds sustained at 15 to 30 mph. Isolated gusts can reach 65 mph. With above normal temperatures and very low humidities, ELEVATED FIRE conditions expected during this time, especially in areas with drier fuels.

City of Ojai Mourns the Loss of Former Mayor and Councilmember Paul Blatz

The City of Ojai is mourning the loss of former Mayor and Councilmember Paul Blatz, who passed away after a battle with cancer on Friday, March 26, 2021 at the age of 69. Paul Blatz served as an Ojai City Councilmember from 2010 to 2018, and as Ojai Mayor in 2013 and 2016. Paul Blatz also served on the Ojai Planning Commission from 1998 to 2008. He was succeeded on the City Council by his son and current Councilmember,
