(OJAI, Calif.) – Setting up chairs along the Independence Day parade route has a long history in Ojai. While the City awaits the State’s determination of whether Independence Day parades will be allowed to occur this year, the City has implemented the following precautions to help protect public health this year:

  • No chairs allowed on Ojai Avenue before Monday June 28, 2021 at 8 a.m.
  • No more than 10 chairs in a group and please leave space between groups of chairs.

Chairs placed before Monday, June 28, 2021, or in larger groups, may be removed. Owners may collect removed chairs at the City’s Public Works yard, 408 S. Signal Street, during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Independence Day parade occurs on Ojai Avenue, a state highway. A Caltrans encroachment permit is required, and is currently pending approval. Further restrictions may be announced depending on State and County orders in place at the time of the event, or any conditions required by the state as part of the permit.
