The City of Ojai now has a drive-up ballot drop-off box available to the public, enabling vote-by-mail voters to drop off their mail-in ballots 24-7.

The 600-pound steel box is located on the City Hall campus, directly west of City Hall, in the exit driveway to Help of Ojai. It can be accessed from the driver’s-side window of any vehicle.

The box will be open for mail-in ballot drop off during each election, starting on the day that the County of Ventura Elections Division starts mailing out vote-by-mail ballots. The box will be locked at the end of Election Day itself and no ballots may be placed in the box after that time.

Voters may drop their ballots in the box at any time during the mail-in ballot period, even if City Hall is closed. The box’s contents can only be accessed by County Elections staff, who empty the box daily during this period. They take the contents to County Elections Headquarters, where they are stored in the secure ballot counting area, for including in the vote canvass following the close of the Election.

A walk-up drop-off box will continue to be available to the public in the City Hall lobby during the election period. Voters may drop their ballots off at that location during regular City Hall business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
