The filing period for non-incumbents for the office of Mayor in the City of Ojai has been extended, the City Clerk Department announced today at 5:00 p.m. Interested residents must file nomination papers for the General Municipal Election by the new deadline, August 12, 2020, during normal business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
Per California Elections Code Section 10225, the filing period was extended beyond the initial August 7, 2020, deadline because the City’s incumbent mayor filed no nomination papers as of that time.
Any Ojai resident age 18 or older who is registered to vote, eligible to take the oath of office, and unless otherwise specifically prohibited, qualified to run for the office of Mayor, can file nomination papers.
Per California Elections Code Section 10224, the filing period for the three other open seats – City Council Member for District 4, City Treasurer and City Clerk – is now closed.
