Supervisor Steve Bennett in partnership with the Ventura County Fire Department is pleased to announce a series of free disaster preparedness classes for the Ojai Valley. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
The program begins on Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and will continue for 5 consecutive Thursdays, with a final drill scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2019. The classes will be held at the Oak View Park and Resource Center, 555 Mahoney St., Oak View 93022. Due to funding concerns there is a minimum of 25 participants required to enact a class.
Residents who are interested in participating may enroll by contacting Supervisor Bennett’s office directly at 805-654-2703 or by by emailing Steve.Bennett@Ventura.org with CERT in the subject line. Please make sure to include your name, address and phone number, when enrolling by email.
