As of June 1, 2022, the State of California continues to offer free COVID testing, regardless of insurance status, at select sites. A Test-to-Treat site at the Ventura Unified School District Service Center, 255 Stanley Ave., provides free testing for all, a provider visit and antiviral treatment to those who test positive. Visit covid19.ca.gov/get-tested for a map of all free Test-to-Treat sites.

However, due to changes in federal government funding, some private COVID testing locations may come with a cost for those without health insurance. For example, COVIDClinic, which offers testing at Sarzotti Park, will ask for insurance information when you register and bill your insurance. For uninsured clients, those who do not submit insurance information, or denied claims, there is a $100 charge. The closest sites with free testing for uninsured clients are Ventura and Santa Paula.

If you prefer testing at home, you may request eight, free at-home test kits delivered to your mailbox by visiting covidtests.gov.
