Following a series of public hearings and community input, the Council approved its selection for the new District Maps. Our new maps will take effect after the November 2022 election.
Every 10 years, local governments use new census data to redraw district lines and reflect how local populations have changed. New districts are based on existing districts, compact, have reasonably equal populations, are next to one another, and keep communities together when possible. With these rule in mind, the Council selected Ojai’s new maps, which you can view here, alongside our current maps. For our community, this means that with the next Council elections, you will vote for candidates living in your new district. Council members represent the entire city, but have familiarity with their district and it’s residents.
